So a few years ago, Forgetting Sarah Marshall was my second favorite film of the year, behind The Dark Knight. So imagine my delight when I heard a spinoff, starring Russel Brand’s rocker character Aldous Snow, was in the works. A great character and I was interested in seeing what form it would take.

Well, now we know. Get Him to the Greek sees Jonah Hill’s character (Not the same character from Sarah Marshall, this time a young record company exec) is sent to fetch an off-the-wagon Aldous and bring him to California for an anniversary concert at the Greek Theater. Side note: The Greek is an AWESOME place to see a concert.

The ride these two take from Europe to Los Angeles is a fun one to be on. As Hill does what he can to get the job done, while Brand’s character continues to dragh him deeper and deeper into his world of booze, drugs, and sex. And as it usually goes in this kind of movie, they both learn a little something by the time they get out on the other side and are better people for it.

These two are tops in their roles and it makes me wish we’ll see more from these characters, or even these actors teamed up in something else. There’s a really great chemistry between them. The third lead in this insanity is none other than Puff Daddy, Sean Combs. And he plays his role well. I was a bit worried that his role would be defined by the line about black kids needing air Jordans that seems to be in every single trailer. But once that part’s out of the way, his character becomes fun…And dangerous. Crazy bastard. Hill’s girlfriend is played by Elizabeth Moss and while I’m not sure where I’ve seen in before, but I’d like to see her in more in the future. She’s pretty rad.
